Groovin to the Decentz in ’81

When Bill and I first came to town, (yes we hitchhiked here in July 1980) we regularly heard The Decentz, a local punk rock band. The Decentz played the bars where we would have a few drinks and hang out after midnight, when we finished our shifts, waiting tables.

Pamela Polston, lead vocal for the group back then, has given us permission to use a Decentz song in “Sidretracked” when Jack and Mari stop for a shot and a beer after hitchhiking into town and before finding a place to camp on the Burlington waterfront. 

Polston is now co-founder, associate publisher and co-editor of Seven Days.  Decentz members also included: Jimmy Ryan, bass;, Brett Hughes, guitar/vocals; Gordon Stone, pedal steel guitar; Peter Torrey, drums/percussion.
