A Second Chance with Light

On the film set, the sun comes out or goes in in the middle of a line. It may be grey when it’s supposed to be sunny or visa versa. OR the lighting needs to convey a mood. So, the editing geniuses “re-light” the scenes. Even beyond correcting for weather, they decide on a lighting feel for each scene and revise it.

For Sidetracked, Mari and Jack hitchhike from New York state to Vermont. New York represents the old ways and tough growing up times for both Mari and Jack. Vermont represents new adventure, love and a fresh life together. So the editor geniuses will make the New York part of the film in grey tones. And Vermont will be lush, green colorful and bright to represent promise.
